Overview of the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots

The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will be Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-exempt, making it easier for eligible foreign nationals to move to Canada. However, initially, the HCWP will only accept applications from candidates already in Canada. Applicants outside Canada will be able to apply later.

Candidates may have gained their work experience either in Canada or abroad.

Job Offer Requirements for HCWP

Eligible organizations for job offers include:

  • Home health care service providers
  • Home care support service providers
  • Direct care agencies
  • Personal care services in residential settings
  • Pediatric home health care service providers

Note: Job offers from recruitment and placement agencies do not qualify under HCWP. Additionally, an LMIA is not required to support job offers.

HCWP Eligibility for Out-of-Status Workers

A public policy exception allows out-of-status home care workers in Canada to apply under HCWP. However, only a limited number of spots are available.
