Introduction
Canada continues to open new doors for foreign workers seeking permanent residence. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced more details about the upcoming Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots (HCWP), which will provide foreign home care workers with a streamlined process to find employment and gain permanent residence (PR) upon arrival in Canada.
Set to launch on March 31, 2025, the HCWP will feature reduced eligibility requirements for work experience, language proficiency, and education. If you are a home care worker looking to settle in Canada, this is an excellent opportunity!
Wave Visas, one of the best immigration consultants in Delhi, is here to help you navigate the application process efficiently
Overview of the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots
The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will be Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-exempt, making it easier for eligible foreign nationals to move to Canada. However, initially, the HCWP will only accept applications from candidates already in Canada. Applicants outside Canada will be able to apply later.
Key features of the HCWP:
- LMIA-exempt immigration pathway
- Permanent residence (PR) granted upon arrival
- Lowered eligibility criteria for language, work experience, and education
- Opportunities for out-of-status workers to apply
Streams Under the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots
The HCWP has two streams:
- Workers in Canada Stream — Open for applications from March 31, 2025.
- Applicants Not Working in Canada Stream — Applications will open later in the year.
If you are in Canada, you should start preparing by taking an approved language test and getting your education credentials assessed through an Education Credential Assessment (ECA).
